New! Gidget, Niles & Kea!

 Hi,
I wanted to show you Gidget in her new yard. She is fitting in well
here.

  Here
are some photos of Niles (now known as Max) in his new home. One is of
him howling. I have never seen a little tiny dog before throw his head
back and howl like a little wolf. He is learning to "howl on cue".

Hi
Connie: Here are some pictures of Kea (renamed Brandi).
Brandi is doing just fine. She was found severely hypo thyroid and is
on medication. Her foot healed well. The house training is coming along
slow. Her personality is really picking up since she has been on the
thyroid. The Vet said that she was slow and dull minded due to the thyroid
problem. She will be on medication all her life. She was so low on the
thyroid that the test was below the range they have.

She is learning to walk on a leash. Barney is a big help in training
her. They play for an hour at a time. She seems to not know what to
do with toys. Barney shares most of his toys with her, except one. It
is a soft toy that says "My mom is my best friend". How funny.
He keeps that one to himself.
Brandi is such a pretty dog. And she seems to becoming more aware and
her personality is growing day by day. For a dog who never was allowed
in the house, she has made herself right at home. Now, it is hard to
get her outside!

How
do new dogs and babies get along?
The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.
However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds
such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely
to snap at children.
Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better
than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.
With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't
know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older
dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into
any trouble!! |
