New! We made the news!

These two wonderful people came with the intention of adopting Lynn
Lynn has been at Beagles & Buddies Motel for over a year and we're
sad to see her go - but she deserves the best! Her humans from Chula
Vista fell in love with her over the web and took her home with them
despite a little skin problem Lynn developed. She didn't have the best
hair day when her folks came by, but they still loved her just the same.

Well, if you call being mentioned in the
Town Crier, the local Idyllwild paper famous! WE tell everyone
we meet where we got Tipper! We're big fans! She is doing well,
by the way. Still barks at big dogs and horses, but we think it
may be something she'll outgrow. We hope.

Dear
Beagles & Buddies,
Attached are Andy's photos. We adopted Andy 3 days before Christmas....and
he is truly a gift. He's gotten attached to us and us to him within
a week. He's very sweet and sometimes almost understands what we're
talking about. The house is never dull nor boring, coz there's always
someone to cuddle with you or play with you or just merely watch you.
The only thing is, he doesn't bark at all. For some reason he must have
been really, I mean really forbidden to bark from where he came from.
Aside from running around our front yard, he gets to go to the dog park
twice a week with my daughter, Sara, who spoils him to death. He now
looks forward to a car ride which he dreaded when we got him. People
say that it looks like we've had him since birth. His vet says he's
a happy healthy dog, although, we still see some paranoia in him, particularly
when we turn off our lights at night and everyone goes to bed...he doesn't
know where to go....feeling lost and scared. We're helping him to be
happy and overcome his fears.....slowly and patiently, but still for
us, he's one special and unique dog and definitely a member of the family.

How
do new dogs and babies get along?
The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.
However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds
such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely
to snap at children.
Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better
than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.
With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't
know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older
dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into
any trouble!! |
