The
Beagles wanted to send youa holiday card. You can see by the picture
that both Barney & Elfie are doing well.
We adopted Elfie from you last summer. She is a real sweetheart and
we love her dearly. She loves to go on walks and car rides. She has
gained 2 pounds since July and seems very happy. Thank you for saving
her for us! Best wishes,
Pam,
Bruce, Amy, AJ, Barney and Elfie.

To
my dear friends at Bealges & Buddies,
I just wanted to drop you a short note to wish you all a very happy
and healthy Holiday Season. A lot has happened in the two months
that I've been with my new adopted Mom and Grammy.I've put on several
pounds and love passing the mirror in Grammy's bedroom to admire
my beautiful profile. We've gone on some great adventures in the
car, and I've met lots of Uncles, Aunts and Cousins. I got a warm
blanket, cookies and a couple of new plus toys for Hanukkah. I also
had a little foot surgery, but Dr. Kunin says I'm a fast healter
and should be dancing again by New Years Eve.
On a much sadder note, my dear Cousin Brandy passed away on Thanksgiving
day. I only met her once... she was a beautiful cocker/golden mix.
She had a very loving and gentle way about her. Brandy has been
sick for quite a long time, but never complained. I really believe
she was the bravest fur baby I knew. I know she's happy and free
from pain now, and playing with my big sister Chloe.
I also wanted to "thank you" for all the wonderful work
your rescue group does, without you I would not have found my Mom
and Grammy.
Much love to you all, Sadie Tesser-Sacherman

The
big "pet event" of the year was the arrival of Brandon
(named after 1950's movie actor Brandon de Wilde). He is a snowwhite
West Highland Terrier-Schnauzer mix, weighing in an awesome 9 pounds,
and he is a real wild man! He joins Wesley,
a Maltese-poodle mix who is the same color and size but MUCH more
demure. We adopted both of these loving little guys, who look like
adorable twins in their Christmas sweaters, from a "no-kill"
animal shelter called Beagles and Buddies that is run by some very
dedicated folks in our area. You can visit their website to read
about their good work and to see some very sweet doggies that are
looking for homes. Our cat Olivia, who has been here much longer
than either dog, enjoys a privileged place as Queen of the Manor
and cooly tolerates the antics of her canine siblings!
We hope you enjoy the holidays, and we send our very best wishes
for a prosperous 2002!

How
do new dogs and babies get along?
The baby and the dog should never be left alone together.
However, Bassets are the least likely to be dangerous. There are other breeds
such as the Labrador, the Golden Retriever, and the Collie that are unlikely
to snap at children.
Adopting an older dog that has had experience with children is much better
than adopting a puppy or a young dog without experience.
With puppies, teething is part of growing up - and sometimes they don't
know the strength of their own jaws. Rather than riskng it, go with an older
dog. That way, both parties can have fun & respect without getting into
any trouble!! |
